Swanline Paper & Board (SPB) has launched a new 100% fibre-based display board with strong eco-credentials for indoor retail signage and point-of-sale displays to rival plastic alternatives.
Cygnus Excellent display board has been designed to be durable and robust yet is fully recyclable and FSC certified.
Managing director Ross Griffin said: “The market is demanding eco-friendly solutions for display and signage requirements. The challenge for us has been to develop a board that considers the environment while competing with plastic in terms of its rigidity and strength, aesthetics and performance. We believe that Cygnus Excellent addresses all those needs and more.”
Challenging the foam PVC, styrene and foam boards markets, Cygnus Excellent display board offers outstanding flatness - it will not curl or crease for the lifespan of the product - and a smooth white surface for superior printability; it is suitable for direct print in offset, screen and UV flatbed digital printing techniques.
In addition, SPB claims it delivers 50% greater rigidity compared to leading European-made foam PVC. This added strength means the fibreboard will not crack or shatter during cutting, which can happen with some plastic substrates. Furthermore, transportation and storage costs can be reduced by up to a third as less material is required to achieve the equivalent level of rigidity delivered by lowdensity foam PVC.
“Cygnus Excellent display board is the environmentally aware solution for a wide range of indoor signage, free standing display units, point of sale and retail displays,” explained Ross. “It is a category leading product that delivers multiple benefits for our customers and the planet.”
