Wallcoverings specialist Newmor has installed a Mimaki UCJV300-160 UV LED integrated printer/cutter from CMYUK. A new addition to the company’s existing fleet of Mimaki printers, the UCJV300-160 enables the business to further increase volume output and offer faster customer response times.

“The demand for our digital graphics has surged, especially for larger scale projects, making it essential to expand out digital production facilities. We already run four Mimaki printers, and after reviewing our future plans and requirements, the Mimaki UCJV300-160 perfectly matched our needs.

“This additional unit enables us to improve lead times and increase our production capacity giving our customers the confidence that we can meet tight deadlines and reduce any potential delays on site” says Tracy Jones, Newmor’s Studio & Digital Production Manager.

57 years of excellence

A family-owned business founded in 1967, Newmor is an ISO9001 AND ISO14001 certified specialist in commercial quality, wide-format fabric-backed vinyl wallcoverings. It offers thousands of stocked surfaces, customisable digital prints, designer collaborations, and an in-house graphics department. All products are manufactured at its factory in Wales, where traditional manufacturing techniques, cutting edge digital technology, and sustainably sourced materials deliver superior design and technology solutions.

“From classic woven embosses, tweeds, linens, and silks to contemporary geometrics and metallic effects, we have thousands of textures, colours and patterns in stock. We welcome one-off projects, and our friendly creative team is on hand to help with every aspect of design and production. Showcasing our design expertise, our Newmor Custom collection is a range of trend-led bespoke printed wallcoverings created in-house. The designs can be recoloured, rescaled, and printed onto any of our wallcoverings including textures, metallics and window films,” says Tracy.

Mimaki expertise

The Mimaki UCJV300-160 combines printing and cutting capabilities into one device. At 1.6m wide, this printer excels in 4-layer printing, and  reaches speeds of up to 25.8 sq. m per hour with a top resolution of 1200dpi for sharp detailed printing.   It offers on-demand, UV output that is immediately dry and scratch resistant, and eliminates the need for any additional finishing processes such as laminating.

“We find the Mimaki printers to be extremely reliable and very user friendly and set up times are minimal. The printers run very cleanly and are easy to maintain, which allows more time for production and less downtime. The speed of these printers suits our requirements very well particularly when we are running multiple units.  The colour variation between the printers is minimal, which is very useful when we are running the same design/pattern across multiple machines,” says Tracy.

CMYUK partnership

Over the past 8 years CMYUK and Newmor have built a solid partnership. “Everyone at CMYUK is not only friendly but also highly knowledgeable. My primary contact is Sue Hayward [Commercial Director, CMYUK], who provides an exceptional customer experience. Her extensive expertise helps us make well-informed choices. Moreover, CMYUK’s after sales service is excellent, they are always accessible for any questions or concerns that we might have. Additionally, they keep us in the loop for new releases, offering us the  opportunity to visit and test new equipment,” she says.

Tracy notes that the new Mimaki printer/cutter will help to further boost Newmor’s competitiveness in the Digital Wallcoverings market. She concludes, “We are always aiming to expand our market footprint and enhance the quality of digital graphics that are available to our customers. Our strategy includes staying informed about the latest advancements and evaluating future investments to meet our growing production demands.”
