Waterjet cutting efficiency greatly enhanced with new 5-axis head

5-axis head from the WARDjet range of waterjet cutting machines
Key attributes of the Apex 60 include the ability to cut materials at an angle of up to 60 degrees with a cutting force of 4,000 bar and at a maximum speed of 19 metres/minute.

A new and exclusive 5-axis cutting head has now been added to selective models in the WARDJet range of waterjet cutting machines supplied by the recently rebranded AAG (AXYZ Automation Group). Called the Apex 60, this compact and fully integrated machine enhancement is said to be the most affordable and versatile of its kind currently available that will greatly increase the efficiency of three-dimensional routing/cutting processes.

Key attributes of the Apex 60 include the ability to cut materials at an angle of up to 60 degrees with a cutting force of 4,000 bar and at a maximum speed of 19 metres/minute. According to AAG, this sets the Apex 60 apart from any comparable cutting head. It also helps accelerate the speed and efficiency at which secondary materials finishing can be carried out which hitherto would have required additional specialist staff and thus increase production costs.

Significantly, the Apex 60 will enable waterjet cutting machines to more effectively handle a wider range of more complex materials for which traditional CNC machining solutions are less suitable. Typically, these include certain specialist woods, various alloys such as brass and bronze, aluminium sheet and aluminium composites (ACM), glass and high-density plastics and laminates.
