The Lightblade flatbed CO2 machine

A model of the lightblade laser engraverThinklaser will again demonstrate their Lightblade 3040 CO2 flatbed laser engraving and cutting machine at this years Sign and Digital. This versatile piece of equipment, and the smallest of the Lightblade range, offers a working area of 300 x 400mm. This makes it ideal for many sign making applications, says the company.

The machine is capable of cutting and engraving a wide variety of materials due to the properties of its CO2 laser; such as acrylic, wood, paper, card, foam, synthetic materials, glass and leather. Due to its condensed size, the 3040 machine is able to offer this incredible technology at a great price, starting at only £3375. If this working area is too small, larger machines up to 1600mm by 1000mm are available.

One of the great features about the Lightblade machines is their software compatibility, able to handle input from CorelDraw, Photoshop and AutoCad. They can also handle a variety of file formats including Ai, DST, BMP, DXF and PLT. This means you can continue using the graphics package with which you are familiar and makes these machines 'fantastic for hobbyists, sign-makers and designers'. One of the key advantages to a Thinklaser machine is that this British company maintain full control over the design and manufacture of their laser systems.
If a customer is not looking to purchase a machine, Thinklaser also offer laser engraving, cutting and marking services through their subcontract department. For many clients this is a great way of accessing the technology without the outlay of owning their own machine.

For inspiration, read some of Thinklaser's case studies to see examples of the wide variety of applications that utilise this technology: http://thinklaser.com/casestudy/
Case studies include the laser engraving of Nike trainers, medical instruments and even the foot pedal of an Aston Martin!

The Sign & Digital UK show is being held from the 19 to 21 of April 2016 at the Birmingham NEC.
