ColorJet Verve Mini boosts production at Inspire CNC Manufacturing

A flatbed printer is halfway through printing a vivid picture of a lion

Despite the printers having only been in place a matter of months, Inspire CNC has already seen a marked improvement in production

Hinckley based, family-run Inspire CNC offers a range of services but specialises in novelty vintage street signs for both the trade and public. Inspire CNC already has in place CNC routers, laser cutters and framing equipment but recently made the move into UV printing to expand its offering.

The company initially purchased a small machine to test the waters in this market, with QPS supplying the inks for the device. However, Inspire CNC soon found the size of the printer restricted it in terms of the type of applications it could produce.

After speaking with QPS Director Chris Bailey, Inspire CNC was recommended the ColorJet Verve Mini. The machine was new to the UK market at the time and, according to Inspire CNC Director Andrew Whotton, offered an ideal and cost-effective solution.

Inspire CNC opted to purchase two ColorJet Verve Mini LED UV printers, with both machines being installed at its Hinckley facility in July this year.

“We did some research into ColorJet and compared them to other machines; it seemed that the ColorJet overall was good value for money,” Andrew Whotton said. “We chose to have two of the printers installed and they have been a great asset to our company. They are a nice size – taking up very little room – and the printing beds meet our needs. They are also very easy to work on and easy to maintain.”

Despite the printers having only been in place a matter of months, Inspire CNC has already seen a marked improvement in production. The double installation means Inspire CNC can now produce work at a higher volume, allowing it to take on a larger number of jobs as a result.

Such is the flexibility of the ColorJet Verve Mini that the machines can print on a range of materials in thicknesses from 3mm to 22mm, including glass, alupanel, MDF and plywood. Work currently being produced on the printers includes small gifts and plaques.

“The ColorJet machines have helped us to get a higher volume of product out, so have been able to take on extra work that we wouldn’t have ordinarily been able to do,” Andrew Whotton said.

“Having these machines has made it possible to approach other distributors to supply them with our products, knowing that we can fulfil any order amount. We have never had any ColorJet machinery before, but we have been most impressed with what these machines have had to offer, and working with QPS has been a fantastic experience."

Andrew concludes, "We have always had good advice and information from them, even when we were just buying the inks; the service that we have received from QPS has been second to none. As time goes on, I would be more than happy to get additional ColorJet Verve Mini machines in to keep up with demand.”
