New Onyx Graphics 12.2

close up of an eye and textArtSystems has released the 12.2 version of the Onyx Graphics software, which is the latest version of the company’s wide format print workflow and RIP products.

Building on the celebrated 12.1software, the “sophisticated” Onyx 12.2 version comes with a range of updated software features such as: improved RIP and data transfer processing speeds; new multi-roll functionality; job scaling and rotation directly from the file open dialogue before sending jobs to the RIP queue; and cut workflow updates include the ability to handle multiple cut even path prefixes and duplication of cutter device settings, to enable greater automation. It is available across the entire Onyx software product line including: Onyx Thrive workflow software; Onyx Production House; Onyx PosterShop; and Onyx RIPCenter RIP software.

ArtSystems’ Andrew Edwards, Sign&Display Division Manager, said: “Building on the award winning Onyx heritage and reputation, the powerful 12.2 software delivers everything the print professional could ask for. It provides greater efficiency while also being easy and faster to use, offering enhanced performance for all print jobs. Because it streamlines workflows the entire print process becomes more productive, maximising productivity and profit and thus quickly providing a lucrative return on investment.

“Onyx 12.2 is packed with enhanced tools including the exciting new multi-roll user interface that delivers an interactive workflow showing a live view of loaded media with automated roll selection between jobs in the RIP queue. There is also updated media and page size handling to streamline printer configurations and ease job set-up.

“A new simplified user interface presents device specific information based on bi-directional data – including easily understood displays outlining ink levels, printer status and media information.”

The 12.2 software also provides full support for the Konica Minolta Autoscan Spectrophotometer FD-9 colour device, claiming to provide fast and flexible fully automated chart reading to further improve print workflow and productivity and better colour management.

The software has been fully implemented in ArtSystems Sign & Display Demo Suite where resellers can show their clients how Onyx 12.2 works with HP Latex 300,500, L1500 grand format and HP Scitex FB750 UV printers. Pricing starts from around £1,570 but can go up to £8,000 or more depending on the specification required.
