Carrick Signs boosts its printing prowess with addition of Roland AJ1000

Carrick Signs Ltd based in Bury, Lancashire is already making full use of its new Roland AJ1000 Advanced Jet solvent ink printer, installed in October last year.

Carrick Signs was established as a company only two years ago but its ethos of supplying top quality printed products using high quality and proven "bullet proof" machines is certainly paying off; the new Roland is Carrick's seventh large format print machine, including a UV flatbed printer.

Mandy Roscoe-Enion, Print Manager at Carrick Signs, who has worked in the print trade for 23 years and is passionate about all things printed is said to be happier to have the new machine than a big shiny diamond!

"I still wouldn't say no to a diamond," says Mandy. "This latest addition was decided by a number of factors. Possibly the best research you can do on most products, and this applies not only in the print industry, is the worldwide web which shows both negative and positive reactions of other buyers of the product. I feel this is because people have to be either very pleased or very disappointed to take the time to contribute their views."

Mandy goes on to say that features such as a 2.6 metre (104 inch) printing width, maximum print speed of 90 sq.m. (968 sq.ft.) per hour and high image quality printing at 45 sq.m. (484 sq.ft.) per hour, along with new Exo-Xtreme inks, were what first attracted Carrick to the Roland AJ1000. In addition, the AJ1000's auto maintenance system ensures reliable performance and easy, hassle-free operation.

"We're very strong on supplying all types of products and now we're able to offer items that reluctantly we had to turn down in the past because of their size. For example, the 600mm and 1.5 metre wide Roller Banners are a firm favourite with our customers and before we had the Roland AJ1000 we weren't able to print the two metre width banners but now we're producing printed products up to 2.6 metres (104") wide without the need to weld materials together," explains Mandy.

The AJ1000 also enables Carrick Signs to offer its customers an option of durable Eco-Xtreme inks. Developed for industrial strength performance they come in six vivid colours (C M Y K Lc Lm) and provide exceptional colour gamut, high colour density and superb durability, even in high speed modes across a wide range of uncoated media.

Mandy adds "The AJ1000 was sourced via Design Supply Unit 2 in New Eltham, London, which provided excellent service and kept us up to date through all stages of the purchase and delivery. The team from Roland was brilliant and helped make the whole experience trouble and stress free."

"Watch this space because we're hoping we'll need to move to larger premises in the next year or so to accommodate our next target of a five metre machine."
