Low-cost print and cut solution helps in fight against Covid-19

The Graphtec CE Lite-50 cutter
The CE Lite-50 is supplied with Graphtec’s own-brand Pro Studio, Pro Studio Plus and optional Cutting Master 4 design and production software, with the latter enabling seamless integration with other popular programs such as Adobe Illustrator and CorelDRAW.

Coupling a budget-priced desktop printer with a small-format digital cutter and specialist heat transfer media supplied by Graphtec GB has provided a genuinely low-cost print and cut solution for the decoration and/or commercial branding of face masks and associated safety equipment employed in the fight against the current coronavirus pandemic. Available at an enticingly low price point of around £350, the Silhouette range of cutters has long been a preferred entry-level option for small start-up companies, many of which have been engaging with the PPE-related initiative whilst contemporaneously introducing a vital source of revenue during the current difficult business climate.

Significantly, Silhouette cutters incorporate production-enhancing features normally found on much larger and more expensive machines. These include the latest version of Graphtec’s proprietary ARMS (Advanced Registration Mark Sensing) system for optimum media plotting and cutting accuracy when processing complex and finely detailed imagery.  Available in a choice of three models (Cameo, Portrait and Curio), the cutters are supplied with dedicated Silhouette design and production software.

Bridging a perceived gap between these cutters and the larger commercial-grade CE series, the latest CE Lite-50 option from Graphtec GB enables companies to upgrade production capabilities in line with anticipated future business growth at a commensurately low level of capital investment (on average currently around £650). With a cutting speed of 500mm/sec  and a cutting force of 210gf (2.1N), the CE Lite-50 can safely claim to outperform any comparable machine as well as meeting the highest specification likely to be required for heat transfer-specific applications.

Graphtec GB also supplies a wide range of heat transfer media. This is available in multiple matt, gloss and embossed printable formats including, for example, flocked, brushed metallic, iridescent/reflective, carbon fibre and ‘glow-in-the-dark’.
