TheMagicTouch work with outdoor clothing brand to develop best decorating options

TheMagicTouch teamed up with the UK clothing brand Regatta to do some extensive research and development together. They wanted to establish and perfect the best options to decorate their growing range of high quality jackets and garments.

Over a two-week period the technical team at the Dunstable UK headquarters produced and applied an extensive range of transfers produced using the existing 123Flex, MagiCut Flock, Reflective, Printable Soldark and full colour WoW transfer products.

Traditionally outdoor products have been perfect for the embroidery process and will continue to be so. But with the growing demand for full colour logos, personalisation, lower order size and quicker turnaround TheMagicTouch transfer process offers a flexible and quality option for all garment decorators. The other factor to consider was the effect of selected garments being no longer 100 per cent waterproof when penetrated by embroidery needles.

The range of garments included fabrics in various colours of Soft-Shell, Polyamide, Down insulated, Water-Repellent Polyesters and Isotex waterproof performance materials.

One key factor established during the research was the importance to avoid any marking or scorching whilst applying the transfers using the traditional heat press method. This issue is relevant today with higher value garments and expected high print quality to be attained. With many of the new polyester and performance fabrics being sensitive to heat and pressure, this issue has been solved with application temperatures being as low as 110-120c.

Whilst never being considered as the total solution for garment decoration, TheMagicTouch offers some great alternative options at affordable prices in both printers and cutters together with transfer papers and flex products, says the company.
