Team Atlantis take on Coast-to-Coast challenge to raise funds for children's hospital

Six cyclists are taking on the Coast-to-Coast cycle ride to raise funds for the Birmingham Children's Hospital.

The cyclists from Team Atlantis will tackle the 153-mile route on Saturday, July 20. The route spans from the Irish Sea to the North Sea, traversing from Cumbria to Tyneside. Along the way, they will navigate through the northern Lake District, ascend the Pennines, and descend along the railway paths of County Durham.

Team Atlantis was formed 10 years ago by Carlo Matarazzo of Signs Now UK, when he embarked on a mission to raise funds for the Birmingham Children's Hospital. The inaugral challenge saw 20 people take on the Three Peaks Challenge within 24 hours.

To date Team Atlantis' fundraising efforts have raised £24,188.69 for the hospital.

Mr Matarazzo said: "Through these events, not only have we raised significant funds, but we’ve also heightened awareness for BCH. Our efforts have inspired many others to join the cause and contribute in their own ways. A tour of the hospital solidified my commitment, as I witnessed firsthand the incredible work and future plans aimed at supporting and healing young children.

"As we celebrate this milestone, I am filled with gratitude and a renewed determination to continue supporting the Birmingham Children's Hospital. The journey of Team Atlantis is a testament to the power of community and the enduring spirit of giving. Here's to many more years of making a difference together."
