TOPIC: VHB double sided tape

VHB double sided tape 11 years 4 months ago #47

Hello
Please could someone recommend the best double sided tape to stick acrylics and dibond materials to each other and to general surfaces including brick.

Thanks
Mark

It would depend if the brick is painted or not (how rough or smooth..for rough, unpainted, forget it). For the acrylics/dibond we have 3 which could be suitable; 2 pure acrylics (881 or 895, both of which are UHB ) and one foam tape (866)which has a solvent acrylic adhesive.

I have just put up some dibond signs and used plugs, screws and caps. This is probably the best way depending on the weight. You have to make sure that you don't screw the dibond too tight though as it compresses a little around the whole. Dibond is soft so make sure the surface you are attaching it to is not to jagged - lumps of cement etc.

The other option for brick is use resin, but I agree that tape will not work for brick.

I use the 3m VHB tapes.

There is a website that I saw with a nice section on tapes, and in here there is a signs link giving some examples for the sign maker.

Hi
Thanks people
I am just started in sign making and have had a few problems with sticking acrylic to brick , I didn`t want to use stand offs as they are time consuming and you what customers are like for spending money

So thanks again and I shall dig a bit deeper with the 3M site.

Best regards
Mark
