Roland DG (UK) increases commitment to industry training as Prism's corporate knowledge partner

Building on its commitment to support education in the graphic arts and sign making sectors, Roland DG, a leading provider of wide-format inkjet printers and printer/cutters, has joined the specialist imaging association, prism, as its corporate knowledge partner. Roland DG will work with prism, formerly called the Digital and Screen Printing Association (DSPA), to develop learning initiatives for association member companies and promote the digital and large format industry to new markets. Roland's Jerry Davies

Roland DG Managing Director, Jerry Davies, says: "Training is essential if a company is going to get the most from its digital print equipment and should be regarded as an investment rather than acost. Roland DG is committed to developing industry skills, most clearly illustrated by the Roland Academy, which is Europe's largest dedicated training facility for the digital sign making sector. We look forward to sharing our experience in developing courses with prism. This partnership with prism is strategically important as it's a unique, specialist forum for debate and will allow Roland DG to share information and garner market intelligence from the association's 1,250 members and prospects."

Prism Business Manager John Keith.Prism Business Manager, John Keith, says: "One of prism's principal aims is to promote the up-skilling of the industry. It's universally accepted that there will be challenging times ahead, so it's absolutely essential that companies develop their people to remain competitive and profitable. Roland DG is renowned for bringing leading wide format technologies to market. It has a pedigree in delivering relevant training to end users and promoting best practice through the Roland Academy, so will be a key knowledge resource for prism."

Prism President, Peter Kiddell is currently developing an e-learning digital printing course and will look for input from Roland DG during the coming months before its launch in the New Year. The course, which will be available to prism members, will include modules on the history of digital printing, machine types, print heads, inks, health and safety, the environment, colour, workflow and RIPs, maintaining quality and applications.
