Devcon Metal Welder saves signmakers time
There is an increase in the number of signs being produced using structural adhesives and there are three chief reasons for this. By replacing welding and mechanical fastenings, the aesthetic appearance of the display area of the sign is improved, galvanic corrosion is eliminated and the signmaker can complete the job faster; and time, as they say, is money.
ITW Devcon has a solution for signmakers. One of its fast acting high strength adhesives, Devcon Metal Welder, is a high performance two-part structural methacrylate adhesive, which has been specially developed to bond ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics and other difficult substrates without priming. It offers significant reductions in set up and preparation time, which has led to many customers reducing assembly time by as much as 50%.
That's not all, Metal Welder offers high tensile and shear strengths. It offers excellent cohesive strength of 17 MPa and a tensile elongation of 30 to 60%.
Devcon states that the adhesive also presents benefits over silicone and double-sided tape as assembly time is faster and labour costs are reduced with a working time of four to six minutes and fixture time as low as 15 to 25 minutes. The adhesive has faster room temperature curing and excellent long term durability.
Metal Welder will fill gaps up to 12 mm wide and gives a water-tight bond, which accommodates high levels of wind flexing, and displays excellent cold and hot temperature resistance in the service range minus 55 to plus 120 deg C.
Devcon Metal Welder is available in pre-measured 250 ml self-mixing cartridges, 20 litre and 200 litre packs.
