CAD Design Engineer

Roles and Responsibilities

CAD Design Engineer

Reports to: Technical Design Manager

Job Purpose: To form part of the busy CAD design team of a leading trade sign manufacturing business. Possessing strong analytical and problem solving attributes you will ensure that the attention is in the detail whilst upholding our company values, and accurately interpreting order information, which in turn will ensure we meet and exceed client expectations. You will liaise regularly with the Projects and Sales teams as well as the Production Manager to ensure that deadlines are met. You will be responsible for ensuring that all Policies and Procedures along with Health and Safety are adhered to, reporting non-conformance and quality defects to the Technical Design Manager.

  • Experience with the use of AutoCAD or similar software.
  • Maths GCSE grade B or higher.
  • Must possess an excellent eye for detail and analytical skills.
  • A proven ability to work under pressure, multi-task and prioritise workload.
  • A motivational team player, having the ability to work without management direction, use initiative and possess a positive attitude.
  • Keen for new experience, responsibility and accountability.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Qualification or module in Technical Drawing – ideally AutoCAD
  • Experience with Solid Edge Software
  • A level Maths
  • Knowledge or experience within the sign industry
  • Experience of working in 5S and/or Lean Manufacturing Environment

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • To receive job packs – contract review with sales and produce manufacturing and general arrangement drawings using AutoCAD software to company standards.
  • To liaise with Technical Design and Project Manager to establish timescales and drawing requirements + ensure issue to productions to meet delivery deadlines.
  • To produce cutting lists for materials and parts list to procure specialist items.
  • To produce router cutting and laser cutting files.
  • To generate material parts lists for stock and bought materials.
  • Liaise with clients to determine requirements, clarify or chase details.
  • Purchase materials and obtain the most competitive prices.
  • Follow company policy and procedures within your department, reporting any non-conformance to management.
  • Maintain a high level of quality.
  • Notify management of any discrepancies or quality concerns.
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and regulations.
  • Attend training and develop relevant knowledge and skills.

Minimum Hours of Work: 8.30 – 17.00 Monday – Thursday / 8.30 – 16.00 Friday

Remuneration

As an NCS Employee you will be offered an attractive starting salary between £22 - £32k per annum depending upon experience, along with a Group Personal Pension and a minimum of 20 days of annual leave. We are currently developing a bonus scheme where employees have the opportunity to increase their annual bonus portion, based upon T&A and performance.
