Can anyone help, we have a Mimaki CJV30-130, it prints and cuts fine. But we bought 30 meters of a 7 year vinyl, it starts to cut, the rollers work as normal, back and forth. Then you can see a gradual lifting of the vinyl sheet, after a couple of minutes its all buckled and the machine errors.

Hi Drodders,

There are two things that strike me as a possible reason:
1) the temperature could be too high. I would suggest something around:

  • Pre heater: 37C

  • Print heater: 37/38C

  • Post heater: 40/41C

Higher grade material is more susceptible to heat as it is thinner.

2) Check the pressure electronically. The two left hand side pinch rollers could have either no or low pressure.

3) Make sure the vinyl is loaded correctly (taught).

Points 2 and 3 apply to all vinyl so probably not going to be the issue if it is ok with other vinyl.

Just out of curiosity, what brand vinyl is it?

Hi Ross

Thanks for your help. It turns out it was static, much to my cost. It was an Avery 700 series, when the vinyl goes back and forth, it created so much static that eventually the sheets were getting jammed. Can you believe it?

To solve this, just simple anti-static wipes wiped over all the heaters.

Thanks for your help anyway.

Cheers
