In 2008, worldwide sales of Roland DG’s print and cut devices passed 70,000 since the launch of the first such machine in 1995, with 5,000 units sold in the UK alone. This has cemented the company’s place as a world leading supplier of print and cut equipment. Indeed, the Roland DG VersaCAMM series is the best selling printer cutter in the world, says Roland.
Since its introduction, the VersaCAMM has provided signmakers with an unmatched entry-level price point as well as versatility, reliability and ease of use. The latest model, the VP series, is available in 30" VP-300 and 54" VP-540 versions and is Roland’s - and the market’s - fastest entry-level printer cutter to date. The VersaCAMM VP is a four-colour CMYK machine that will perform as a stand alone cutter or print only device as well as a printer/cutter. It has an automated maintenance system for hassle-free operation and immediate printing on a range of substrates as diverse as self adhesive vinyl, banner, paper, film and heat transfer paper. Like all Roland machines, the VersaCAMM VP series includes the latest version of Roland DG’s powerful, user friendly RIP software, VersaWorks 3.0, which features the Roland Color spot colour fidelity system, Variable Data Printing and the option to run up to four machines from a single workstation.
Roland’s print and cut portfolio also includes the SolJet PRO III XC-540W, the latest in its range of SolJet printers and a machine that features Roland DG’s Eco-Sol Max white ink, which again opens up even more revenue generating opportunities. White ink is critical to producing high value applications, such as double sided graphics, on clear media, which was a labour intensive and inaccurate process before the introduction of white ink. Eco-Sol Max white can also be applied as an undercoat on any media prior to the application of CMYK ink to drastically increase colour opacity. Like all inks in the Eco-Sol Max range, it’s safe for indoor use, scratch and UV resistant and has an exterior life of up to three years.
It’s easy to get carried away by Roland’s innovative print and cut technology but the company also leads the way in print only solutions. It boasts the largest portfolio of wide-format printers on the market, with products to meet every price point and production level requirement, the latest of which is the VersaArt RS-640, a 64" four-colour CMYK printer. At a price point of under £12,000, the RS-640 offers high image quality, productivity and performance beyond that of any other printer in its class.
Roland users can take peace of mind from the fact that the company has also dedicated time to developing one of the most comprehensive post sales support packages in the industry - RolandCare, a responsive, flexible and cost-effective service programme for customers with machines in the field, which is available in bronze, silver and gold packages.
